So I’ve probably confused a number of you who’ve been following along as I’ve been back and forth about whether or not I’m moving to this domain. The short answer is YES I am, or have. Mostly because I’ve had this domain for a pretty good while and it offers a bit more latitude in content than just my personal mildly insane rantings. Plus I have other ideas that I’m hoping to implement and I felt that a personal domain just didn’t fit as well. Basically that’s it, I hope you continue following along, I hope to be posting more often, especially on things I’m working on relating to WordPress 3.0. Thanks again for stopping by: James (aka: RustedBucket).

It’s been several months since I was let go from my development job of thirteen years. I’ve spent most of that time trying to decide what I want to do now. Having taken a great deal of interest in our own personal finances and management my retirement fund after rolling my 401k into a Rollover IRA, I’ve decided to take a stab at day trading.

Having worked in the financial industry for the past 13 years with not even a “thank you” to show for it, I think it’s time to put some of that experience to use in a manner that can potentially provide an alternative to the daily grind of a “job”. Plus, who doesn’t like making money from the comfort of their own home?

I know, there’s probably easier ways to do it, like spending time at the video poker machine at the corner Gas & Go, or maybe taking a few trips to Vegas. But the way I look it luck and skill stand a better chance in the markets than on the losing side of a Blackjack table.

I’ll be chronicling this adventure here and while it will most likely be a total bust, you never know, stranger things could happen. As a disclaimer for anyone following this mis-adventure let me be clear, I am no expert. I am not an experienced trader, there are elements to this industry I do not understand but I am sure that is the case with many who partake in this journey. You have to start somewhere right? There are plenty of “Hot Stock Picks” site out there, and any number of “experts” one can turn to for money management, paper trading can only do you so much. There’s also plenty of people that will be willing to tell you “it’s too risky” and to not jeopardize your hard earned money. To them I say, you probably don’t want to read my blog then because it will be a waste of your time. For the rest of you that have the ambition and drive to pursue such avenues in order to make a profit I say, “tally ho” and “good luck”.

Because you just never know when your going to find yourself in the midst of a Zombie attack you should always be prepared. I keep an Emergency Zombie Kit under the seat of my Toyota Tundra just in case I take a wrong turn and end up in “Night of the Living Dead” or some other place infested with Zombies. Seriously folks, you just never know when you might have to go all Resident Evil on a gang of undead humans hellbent on having you for dinner. The kit itself includes a shotgun, shells, a knife and the lid doubles as a riot shield.

Remember your Boy Scout training: Be Prepared. You Girl Scouts, I hear Zombies like “Brownies” so just throw them.

Hello there. I see you finally made it through all the nooks and crannies of the internet to find your here to my blog.

For those of you that are stopping by for the first time, my name is James Pegram and this is my little slice of the blogosphere. Basically I started this blog to have a place to rambling about various things, sometimes they make sense, most times probably not.

A little about me. I’m just your average guy who spends way to much time on the internet. I live in Albemarle, NC (where??). Basically we’re out in the middle of NC farm country about a half hour NE of Charlotte. It’s the home of American Idol 5 fifth place finisher and current country music star Kellie Pickler. I’ve spent the past 13 years working for First Union -> Wachovia -> Wells Fargo, up until a few weeks ago when they decided my services were no longer needed. Now, I’m a full-time internet mogul which allows me to maintain my own schedule and work from home.

I’ve dabbled in the internet for years but nothing ever really took until back in January of 2005 while watch the auditions for season 4 of American Idol and having witnessed the audition of this cute blond country girl (and proclaiming her the winner right then) I started a fan site called Carrie Fans. Now, five years later, Carrie Underwood is a country music SUPERSTAR and Carrie Fans is the largest dedicated discussion forum on the net. Currently the site has over 2 million posts, right at 10k members and gets around 35,000 page views a day.

I also operate another forum for Stampin’ Up! crafters and demonstrators. Stampin Addicts as conceived in an attempt to help my wife (she’s the demonstrator) and her friends from around the country keep connected. It quickly overflowed to the rest of the stampin community and is currently on it’s way to being a prosperous community.

Besides these two site I also do a fair amount of PHP/MySQL development, mostly for my own benefit and from time to time I’ll build a website for someone. When not in front of the computer I’m usually still online playing Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4. My XBLA account name is RustedBucket. Sometimes I canbe found on one of the local lakes and occasionally I’ll get tired of the internet and do some real work around the house, but that doesn’t happen too often.. lol

So that’s it really. Plenty more stories to tell but those are for another time. For now, thanks for stopping by and feel free to drop me a line.
